Inspire the Present: Bringing History to Life

Inspire the Present: Bringing History to Life In-Person

Friday, March 9, 5:30-7 p.m.

Goldfield Room, 3rd Floor, Lied Library

An implosion. A cloud of dust. Another Las Vegas landmark gone, making way for a new resort, a new landmark, a new chapter for the city. With every change to the city's skyline, people say a piece of Las Vegas history is gone. But the stories and records of these businesses and the people who made them possible are preserved in UNLV University Libraries's Special Collections & Archives. We've assembled a panel of three notable Las Vegans, who often partner with Special Collections & Archives, to discuss how they use historical materials to bring Las Vegas history to life.

Our distinguished panel includes Tom Hawley, Local History Reporter at KSNV-TV/Channel 3, Dr. Michael Green, UNLV Associate Professor of History, and Geoff Schumacher, Director of Content for The Mob Museum.

The event, the third in a series celebrating the 50th anniversary of Special Collections and Archives, is sponsored by the University Libraries and Southern Glazer's Wine and Spirits.

If you have any special accommodation needs, please contact Lonnie Marshall in University Libraries Administration in advance at 702-895-4517 or lonnie.marshall@unlv.edu.
