AI and You

AI and You In-Person

Artificial intelligence (AI) can create fascinating and surprising work, but can it be applied responsibly in an academic setting? Join Kevin Sebastian, Teaching & Learning Librarian for Online education, for an experiment with emerging AI tools and discuss how you can use them ethically in your classes.

You will learn the fundamentals of how generative AI like chatbots work, focusing on simplified technical explanations suitable for beginners. The workshop will examine various classroom scenarios where the application of AI tools can lead to ethical complications, such as academic integrity, accessibility, and data privacy, and you will get hands-on experience with a selection of AI tools that can assist in academic settings, such as AI-driven research aggregators, writing aids, or educational games.

The workshop is free and open to all.
