Douglass Day Transcribathon In-Person

Join the University Libraries and the UNLV Department of Interdisciplinary, Gender and Ethnic Studies for Douglass Day, an annual program that marks the birth of Frederick Douglass.

Each year for Douglass Day, thousands of people nationwide gather to help create new and freely available resources for learning about Black history.

In 2024, event participants will transcribe the "Frederick Douglass Papers: General Correspondence, 1841 to 1912" from the archives of the Library of Congress. This collection is extraordinarily rich, and includes public letters, intimate family moments, and much more. These letters show us the many versions of Frederick Douglass across so many parts of his long and storied lifetime fighting for Black rights and citizenship.

This event is free and open to all. 

Laptops will be available for use or bring your own!
