DESCRIPTION:Join the University Libraries and the Department of 
 Interdisciplinary\, Gender and Ethnic Studies for UNLV's Douglass Day 
 celebration\, an annual program that marks the birth of Frederick 
 Douglass.\n\nEach year for Douglass Day\, thousands of people nationwide 
 gather to help create new and freely available resources for learning about 
 Black history by transcribing documents from the Library of Congress.\n\nIn 
 2026\, we will be celebrating “All Rights for All: Equality and the 
 Colored Conventions Movement.” and focussing on the struggles for 
 citizenship\, equality\, and belonging in the Colored Conventions. We want 
 to reconsider how far we have come and where we want to go. The Colored 
 Conventions include rich\, historical documents and debates that speak 
 directly to our fight today to secure and preserve our citizenship and 
 civil rights. Event participants will transcribe documents from the 
 archives of the Library of Congress.\n\nNo experience transcribing 
 necessary. Prizes\, snacks\, cake\, and refreshments provided!\n\nFree 
 parking available in Lot N.
